Heritage Celebration 2010 Event Schedule
Monday, Aug. 16:
* Cornish Dance workshop “Learning w/ Lowenna & Lauren” St. Anne’s Heritage Center 7:00 pm Free Admission! Hosted by the Keweenaw Kernewek
Tuesday, Aug. 17:
* Coppertown Miner's Reunion Coppertown Museum open house 7:00-9:00 pm. Mining stories & miners, pipers, and light refreshments. Free admission!
Wednesday, Aug. 18:
Pasty Dinner & Cornish Dance Performance Featuring Cornish dancers Lowenna Hosken and Lauren Chandler, Britain's Dance Ambassadors at St. Anne's Heritage Center Tickets:
* Dinner and performance $10.00
* Performance only $7.00, kids under 18 $3.00
* Hosted by the Keweenaw Kernewek
* THE PASTY DINNER begins at 6:30 pm followed by dance performance.
* Tickets can be purchased in advance from members of Keweenaw Kernewek and Range Bank in downtown Calumet. Dance tickets also available at the door

* Red Metal Radio Show - new “1910”production! Calumet Theatre 7:00 pm Tickets $7.50 available at the theater box office or at the door. Also broadcasting live on Eagle Radio FM 105.7

* Haggis Making Workshop St. Anne's Heritage Center 2:00-3:00 pm
* “Meet & Greet” the Highland Games Athletes – starting at 6:00 pm outside the Michigan House Cafe on Oak Street. (special microbrew “wee heavy ale”)
* Miss Coppertown Pageant St. Anne's Heritage Center 8:00 pm $3.00 at the door
Saturday, Aug. 21:
* Ethnic Breakfasts in Agassiz Park 8:00-10:00 am
* Sidewalk Sales downtown
* Great Deer Chase (mountain bike race) 5th Street roll-out start 10:00 am
* The Copper Country Heritage Parade 5th Street 10:05 am
* Followed by a full afternoon of fun, food, music, vendors, and games in Agassiz Park. Horse-drawn guided tours. Music by Superior Pipes & Drums!
* Downtown Historical Scavenger Hunt. Free! Start in Agassiz Park
* Highland Games in Agassiz Park immediately following the parade
* Ceildh (Kay-lee) (Scottish tradition – jokes, songs, music) Albion Station 8:00pm Location TBA

Main Street Calumet’s Economic Restructuring and Promotion Committees will host two upcoming webinar events for the local business community.
The webinars, produced by HALO Business Advisors for the Michigan Main Street Center/MSHDA, are:
“Thrive! Don’t Just Survive. Your Path to Success in this Economy”—April 29
“Cheap or Free: Best Promotional Ideas Using Marketing Technology”—May 12
Webinars will be held from 9-10 am on their scheduled dates; those wishing to participate can do so from any location with phone and internet access.
The webinars are intended for business owners and managers in select Main Street communities. As a Master Level Michigan Main Street community, Calumet is able to provide local business individuals with this opportunity,

Calumet Window Decorating Contest Winners Announced
Main Street Calumet has announced the winners in their holiday window decorating contest, an annual competition amongst downtown business owners to see who can create the most festive, decked-out storefront.
The contest is part of Main Street Calumet’s “Christmas in Calumet” celebration, presented by the Village of Calumet Downtown Development Authority.
The winners, as determined by this year’s special panel of judges, the Calumet Lady Elks, are:
2nd Place: Calumet Floral (owner Sandy Johnson), receiving two tickets to the Calumet Theatre.

The decorated storefronts will be on display through the first of the year. The final weekend in Main Street Calumet’s “Christmas in Calumet” event takes place this Saturday, Dec. 19, with free horse-drawn wagon tours, carolers, strolling musicians, and more.
